Teaching Writing - Using Process Oriented Learning Curriculum

Teaching Writing - Using Process Oriented Learning CurriculumIf you are teaching a writer, you may want to consider implementing some process oriented learning competencies in writing an essay. These are ways that you can teach your students how to organize their thoughts and ideas so that they do not get too tangled up, which is difficult to accomplish. The good thing about these skills is that they can be learned in just a short period of time. Of course, you do not want to overwhelm your students with too much information, so you should choose the process-oriented learning curriculum that suits the type of writing you want to do. You should also understand that there are different types of processes and the ones you use should be based on the type of writing you are doing. Before you can learn to utilize these competencies, you need to understand what they are and how they work. If you go into teaching writing, you can use the process-oriented learning curriculum that will help you see that writing is a matter of organizing your thoughts and getting them to flow logically from one idea to the next. This will help your students to understand how to write a successful essay, as well as how to write a clear and concise one.One of the first competencies that you should learn is called the Process Formation. This is a way to organize your thoughts so that they all have a common thread, even if they are not connected. Students should write down their thoughts when they are first starting out in class. At the end of the semester, you can ask them to re-write what they wrote down at the beginning of the semester so that it flows more smoothly and makes sense.Another process-oriented learning curriculum that you can use is called the Sequential Form. You will need to give students examples of sequential thinking when you use this curriculum. For example, you could have them make a list of all the people in their family and how they relate to each other.Another of the p rocesses that you should teach is called the Outline. When you start teaching writing, you need to show students how to use the outline to organize their thoughts and ideas. You can do this in a classroom situation or online. You can use this as a way to add structure to the essay or as a way to emphasize one point. You can use the Process Analysis to help your students with this curriculum. This is the process that helps them see how to check their facts before they go to print. Once they have checked their facts, they can then go back to the outline to double-check everything and continue the process. Finally, you can also use the Process Composition to help students with their essays. They will need to connect their thesis statement to one or more parts of their essay.
